It’s that week of the month again…

No, think again.

It’s the week of the month where all my monthly recurring bills are due. HOW did this happen you ask? The universe thought it was being funny, that’s how. With the exception of my cellphone all my bills are paid just about half way through the month. So unlike the conventional paycheque-to-paychequer I run out of money halfway through the month, yet have lots of it at the end and the beginning of the month! How so, you ask?

My house, car and life insurance are paid on the 15th, soon after the Internet and phone bill are due  on the 18th, my credit card cycle ends and bills as of the 20th, the electric bill is usually do around the 20th as well. Oh, the mortgage! Since that is paid bi-weekly it is almost guaranteed to fall within this time-frame as well. Then last but not least of course the payment on my student debt, due on the 24th. I don’t pay for water (just the electric to pump it) and don’t have a carpayment…. phew… Otherwise I’d really be broke right about now.

Am I the only person that has their bills pop up this way? Of course they’re the same every month so I know to expect them but it still sucks. Since I’m still behind and only slowly catching up, this time of the month is the hardest. When my pay comes in it goes right out again, all of it! The good thing is that my other monthly cheque is entirely for me so I can’t wait to catch up so I can actually have that cheque-for-me again instead of putting it to the credit-card.Not that I will actually spend it on me-stuff… but it’ll be nice to have a buffer and perhaps be ahead of things when the next month comes. 🙂

  1. My bills are the exact same way! Except all of mine come at the end of the month. So, I get paid on the 26th and put almost all of that check to bills. Then I get paid on the 11th and put all of that check to debt. Ha! I can’t wait to be out of debt and have all of that money for me! 🙂

If you ever have problems with your bill schedule, you can usually get the due date changed. I know Comcast does that. Just a tip in case you ever need it.

  2. I never realized that I may be able to move the due dates around a bit, I may do that with the Internet/phone bill just to spread things a bit over the month. I’m reading this post now and it’s 6 months later… wow things have changed! I’m in a much better position financially, love it.
