Sneaky credit-card companies

Thanks for the note, but no thanks

One of my siblings is currently paying off a store credit-card, let’s not get into the nitty-gritty and how that’s bad, we know it’s bad. BUT as of right now the balance is on a deferred payment plan and will likely be entirely paid off by the time the plan comes due. Regular payments have been made on the account and I was shown the statement today, and noticed something I thought I’d share. There was this little note immediately below the account activity (showing the decrease in the deferred balance) it said this:

“Please do not pay this account. Your statement shows a credit-balance. You can apply this amount to your current expenses. Please call customer services if you have any statement inquires”

Really? I know they’re out to make money and all that but to discourage someone from paying a debt off early? Shame on you Desjardins.
