Moving again…

The blog though guys, chill, not me. (Although…I think, Tom has been driving me bonkers this quarantine season so who knows…). I should have done this ages ago!

I started out this blog in what, 2009? I think? With a silly name on the free version of WordPress and within about 6 months I ended up settling on Nickel by Nickel. I ended up switching to self-hosted – wirh great difficulty, having no clue about coding or how anything works – and while Dreamhost has been wonderful for many of my stupid questions.. paying those hosting fees every year have really started to annoy me. No reflection on their service or product, just me being a nickel-pinching cheapass.

For a few years it wasn’t so bad paying the 160 bucks a year for hosting and domin fees because I also earned some income from the blog, so it all came out in the wash… but let’s be honest here, the last couple of years I have FAILED at diary-ing online and I keep saying that and it’s getting kiiiinda repetative so.

Back to quarantine business; I’ve got a lot of time on my hands, as do a lot of people.. still not sitting here twiddling me tumbs, but, definitely more time to do things and so I’ve finally had the chance to import, export, run back to a free WordPress blog.

Don’t worry.. I have no business attempting to explain to anyone how to migrate a blog back to a free blog. How many people even do this? Usually your blog goes bigger or just dies… I must be one of very few to bother doing this hahaha. This tutorial was super handy though, should you wish to know:

I write about my life, travel and my financial up and downs on my blog, Nickel By Nickel, while contradicting myself daily. ;)
